Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin was born in the city of Winnipeg, but was raised in the city of Wellington. She became an actor in the role of Flora McGrath in the romantic drama film called The Piano. Paquin was born in Winnipeg and grew up in Wellington and made her stage debut as Flora McGrath when she played her role in The Piano. She won an Academy Award at the age of 11 to be the Best supporting Actress. Following a formal audition at the age of nine, she changed her name to Flora McGrath - the daughter of the Scottish muffled pianist during the 19th century. Her family moved into New Zealand to marry an arranged husband. In her teens, Paquin relocated to America. Paquin played the lead role in the film Fly Away Home in 1996 and also had a small part in the film as Jane Eyre at the time she was an infant. Paquin was a part-time actress in the TV film of 1997 adaptation of Carson McCullers novel The Member of the Wedding. In Steven Spielberg's Amistad in the film, she portrayed the queen of Spain in a minor part. She portrayed teens in Hurlyburly (1998) She's All That (1999) and A Walk on the Moon (1999) and played the character of a groupie Polexia Aphrodisa in Almost Famous (2000).
