Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. She was born and raised in Barcelona. Her diverse style of music has earned her the status of "atypical pop star". [9] She was captivated by Spanish folk music when she was only 13 years old. She studied musicology at Catalonia College of Music and also performed at weddings. Billboard awarded her the Rising Star Award, in 2019, for "changing the sound today's mainstream songs by introducing her unique flamenco pop". 18 years ago, she is also the first Latino-singing group to be nominated for Best New Artist at the Grammys. Rosalia was born on 25 September 1992 in Sant Cugat del Valles and raised in Sant Esteve Sesrovires,[20][21][22] Baix Llobregat, Catalonia. The family she was born into has no artistic backgrounds She is the youngest daughter of Pilar Tobella, a businesswoman who runs a small family company specialised in metalworks.
